McEwen Lifestyle Centers has been committed to developing,
leasing, and managing some of the country’s finest
retail centers. Each serves a growing and affluent community
as the primary center for quality shopping and dining.
Our projects have gained national prominence within
the industry for their distinctive tenant mix, outstanding
performance, visual appeal, and design quality.
We coined the term “Lifestyle Center” to
describe our vision – a vision seen by Dan Poag
through his own personal shopping experiences. With
a background in strip center development, Poag knew
shoppers liked the convenience of easily accessible
stores. Combined with this known fact, Poag added better
retailers, superior architecture, and an inviting environment
into his idea creating a defining mark in the retail
real estate industry.
To assist in carrying out this vision, Poag partnered
with Terry McEwen, a highly recognized leasing industry
executive, to form Poag & McEwen Lifestyle Centers.
Initially, while strategically building the foundation
for this new shopping alternative, the two managed and
leased a number of strip centers already owned by Poag.
The partners eventually dissolved all other interests
to focus solely on the lifestyle center concept.
The Shops of Saddle Creek developed in 1987 by Dan Poag
and Terry McEwen in Memphis (Germantown), TN was our
company’s first fully conceived Lifestyle Center.
Today, the company and its affiliates are being led by some of the
industry's leading executives, weathering the storm of the current
economic recession and back working on ground up developments while
also growing through acquisitions."
